Do the Yemeni brothers know about the Israeli Dahlak islands opposite the shores of Yemen And do they know that she is an easier target to hit than Umm al-Rashrash ( Eilat)
The islands of the Dahlak archipelago, which number more than a hundred, have an area of 700 km and are 43 km away from the coast, and on their coast there are a large number of marinas for ships heading to and from Massawa .
There are several villages on the island, including: Dahlak el Kebir, Kobani, W, slat, drobuchat, mamla . Due to the island's strategic location near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and one of the main shipping lines in the Red Sea, major world powers have tried to station themselves there and establish military bases, especially since the island has an airport, heliport, floating docks, communication stations and beacons for ships, in addition to economic riches such as agriculture, fisheries and pearls .
Israel maintains its largest naval base on the island outside its borders in the Dahlak islands, under an agreement between it and Eritrea, and Eritrea used Israeli gunboats and significant logistical support from that naval base during its occupation of the Yemeni island of Hanish in 1996 .
Israel is based on the island as its monitoring and Control Center in the Red Sea to monitor the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan and the movement of oil tankers, and it is also a station to operate the “Israeli” submarines equipped with nuclear missiles, which monitor traffic at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait south of the Red Sea, and Russia was using the island before that as a base to control the Red Sea before leaving it in the early nineties of the last century .
