Residents of northern Israeli settlements who were forced to leave their homes due to the escalation between Hezbollah and the Israeli army sent a letter to US President Joe Biden asking for action to return them to their homes.

Lobby 1701, representing 60 thousand residents of northern Israel, issued a letter to Biden and the chairman of the US National Security Council, demanding that Israel be allowed to ensure the return of displaced residents to their homes, either through diplomatic means or through a military operation to remove the risks threatening their lives.

"Speaking on behalf of the 60 thousand residents of northern Israel who were evacuated from their homes and turned into refugees, we call on President Biden to give his full support to the government of Israel to act with the necessary force and means to ensure our safety and security,"the message reads.

According to the newspaper" Yedioth Ahronoth", their appeal comes amid reports that the US government is blocking an Israeli military move on the northern border.

Lobby 1701 is a civic organization made up of Israeli residents living along the Lebanese-Israeli border who were evacuated from their homes more than 80 days ago when the exchange of rocket fire between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah began.

They are now putting pressure on the government to bring about a change in the northern border by creating a demilitarized zone in Lebanon and pushing Hezbollah beyond the Litani River.

A report by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to keep Hezbollah away from the border area between Lebanon and Israel for a few kilometers.

Netanyahu recently attended a meeting of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee and explained that "Israel's desire is to create a buffer zone that reaches the Litani River", provided that "Hezbollah is pushed behind it".

Later, a senior politician told the same committee that, after discussions with American and French mediators, Israel might be content to keep Hezbollah only a few kilometers away.
