A Japan Airlines plane caught fire on the tarmac of Tokyo's Haneda International Airport on Tuesday, just a day after a powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake devastated large swathes of Japan's West Coast.
Television footage shown by the channel "NHK" showed the plane going on the runway and the fire erupting from the lower part of its structure.

A Japan Airlines spokesman said the plane that caught fire at Haneda International Airport had more than 300 passengers on board.
Japanese media said that the flaming Japanese plane collided with a Coast Guard plane while it was walking on the runway, and the collision caused the plane to catch fire.

One eyewitness wrote on the X-site: "a plane exploded in front of me.."He shared a clip of the passenger plane on fire .
Fire crews were deployed to the scene immediately, and footage broadcast by Japanese broadcaster NHK showed how firefighters were desperately trying to extinguish the flames with multiple hoses.

According to reports, all passengers were evacuated from the burning plane at Tokyo airport, while 5 people on board the Japan Coast Guard plane were declared missing after the collision.
