Golani company commander about the war and the Israeli abductees: we will cry after the war is over.
In an interview conducted by the Hebrew website "Walla", with the commander of the Golani company, David Cohen, who has been participating in the war on Gaza with his soldiers since the seventh of October, he spoke about his participation in the war, the events and difficulties he faced, recalling the loss of dozens of soldiers and officers during the fighting in Gaza, where he said: "We will cry after the end of the war".
"The fighting in the Shejaiya neighborhood in Gaza was very harsh, and we had to be careful of the IEDs that the resistance could put for us, we stayed there for 18 days, the resistance was located tens of meters away from our troops, waiting for us while they were eating dates and drinking water, they waited for us to enter the buildings where they were to eliminate us, and they were firing rockets at US, placing IEDs in front of us,"Golani said.
It is noteworthy that the Golani Brigade is one of the most Israeli military brigades that lost fighters during the current war in Gaza, including Sergeant "Roy gory" as well as the commander of the 13th Battalion "Tomer Grunberg", where Cohen indicates that he was one of his friends, and was very affected by his loss, and it was very difficult for him, but he will postpone crying for him until after the war. He recounted the details of what happened there:"in one of the battlefields where we were in Gaza, we were surprised by heavy fire in our direction, we did not know the source of the fire, many people were killed, many of our soldiers were injured, and the soldiers were ordered not to move forward until the dead and wounded were evacuated. Because of what happened in this place and the fall of many dead and injured, this place was called the "alley of death".
Golani's commander explains that he hoped every time he broke into a house in Gaza and combed it, that he would find Israeli abductees alive and return them to their families in Israel, but every time he was shocked that there was no trace of Israeli abductees, "our biggest ambition in this war is to recover the Israeli abductees, and we are continuing the war to achieve this goal. As he says.
He described the fighting in Gaza as crazy because of its difficulty and cruelty.
"It was a painful event, and we feel that we missed the opportunity, but we thought it was an attempt by Hamas to draw us to them, or an attempt to seduce us,"he said.
Because of the death of many Golani Brigade fighters in Gaza, the company commander, David Cohen, knows that there will be a time to cry for them," Cohen says in this context: "after the end of the war, we will visit the families of the dead, remember them and cry for them, and it is not shameful to cry and remember one of our friends who was killed in Gaza.
