Dysentery threatens Israeli occupation soldiers in Gaza
The Israeli occupation forces are suffering from an outbreak of serious intestinal diseases, due to eating contaminated and poorly stored food, during the "Al-Aqsa flood" operation launched on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" confirmed that a large number of soldiers were infected with food poisoning, severe diarrhea and high fever, which affected their ability to fight and put them at risk of death.
The newspaper said that the food donations that have been reaching the Israeli army since the start of the military operation did not comply with health standards and were damaged due to poor storage, transportation and preparation. She pointed out that doctors in Israeli hospitals have diagnosed infections with Shigella bacteria that cause dysentery, an infectious disease transmitted through the mouth, contaminated food or water, and causes inflammation of the intestines and stomach, ulcers and bleeding.
Dr. Tal Brosh, director of the infectious diseases unit at Assuta General Hospital in Ashdod, explained that diarrhea spread among soldiers in the south, in their different areas of deployment, and then transferred to soldiers who participated in the fighting in Gaza. He added that this situation poses a threat to the lives of soldiers and the conduct of combat operations, explaining that soldiers with dysentery cannot fight, but need urgent medical treatment.
Dr. Brosh called on the IDF to take strict measures to ensure the safety of food eaten by soldiers, provide them with clean and sterile water, and promote health awareness among them to reduce the spread of intestinal diseases and prevent them. He warned that the continuation of this situation could lead to a health and military disaster for the Israeli army in Gaza.
